Fabulously Fly Maths

In Te Maunga we have been learning about measurement.  I learnt about weighing.  I learnt that if you have 1,000 grams that is 1 kg. If you have 100 centimetres it will become a metre.  My favorite activity was called Breaking Bags.  We had to first weigh how much a water bottle weighs, next we got a hockey stick and a bag and let the bag hang from the hockey stick, next we put as many bottles as possible in the bag in till it breaks, when the bag breaks see how many bottles you put in the bag and see how much weight you used.

Science That Will Blow Your Mind

In Te Maunga this week we had a visit from the Northland Science Roadshow.  We had three activities and the first one we tested water.  We used chlorine to make the water blue.  Chlorine is used in pools so the yucky stuff dies and no one gets sick.  The more chlorine you put in the darker it gets. The good thing is, at the end we got lollies (yay).  The next activity was the most interesting because we got these glasses that had 530 lines per mm and the glasses made everything RAINBOW.  The last activity was launching rockets and we had to use air and fire and it did NOT launch that far.

Check Out This Great Artwork!

In our class, Te Maunga, we have been doing geometry.  In geometry I learnt about geometry vocabulary like vertices, faces, sides and corners.  We made a Wanted Poster out of 3D shapes.  The poster was mostly made out of cubes and cubes are 3D squares but I used a few triangles and circles for the tie, mouth and eyes

This Is What Happens When You Do Training At School

On the 25th of September Paihia School did Cross Country at this place called Bledisloe Domain.  First we ran the field of the domain, then we ran though the field of the cows. The field of cows have stepped everywhere making holes and they also poop. The cow field was annoying with the holes.  Next we went up a hill that was equally annoying  because of the holes and cow poop.  The end was near, because all we had to do was go down the hill, go through the cow field again and go through the field to sweet victory. I felt proud at the end because I got 4th place but Inter School Cross Country was canceled. I couldn't go to Inter Cross Country.

Sharing My Knowledge on POETRY

In Te Maunga we have been learning poetry for our reading.  A metaphor is when you describe something BUT you can’t use as or like or else it is a simile.  A simile is a metaphor but you can use like or as.
