Math Week 2020

In Te Maunga we have been doing problems for Math Week.  In one of the problems called “Heads Out of Tales” I learnt that you always have to record or else you do not know what you just did, and there's always a way to complete something.

Probability

In Te Maunga we have been learning about probability.  While doing probability I played Horse Racing and it was fair. I learnt that with two dice 7 is most common because there are more ways to make 7 than 3 or two with two dice. I also learnt that probability is when you roll dice and there's a chance for it to land on 7 and a chance the two dice land on 8.

Stay Safe Online

In Te Maunga we have been learning about being Cybersafe and learning the Kawa of Care for our Chromebooks.  I learnt that you cannot go on to Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram etc until you are 13 years old.  We learnt that you cannot accept random friend requests.  We have to NEVER share pictures of addresses or the house you live in so you are safe online and in reality.

Soundscapes

In Te Maunga we have been making soundscapes.  I learnt that there are different kinds of instruments like a violin is a string instrument.  In our soundscape we used bubble wrapping to make crunching sounds for dinosaurs.

T - Shaped Literacy

In Te Maunga we have been learning about dinosaurs and we had made a dinorama.  I have been researching the Giganotosaurus and it can run 50 km/h.  The reason the dinosaurs died out was because an asteroid hit a place called Gondwanaland, which was where the dinosaurs lived.

Water Cycle Art

Last week Te Maunga started a picture of the water cycle. I learnt how to fill in gaps by doing the picture, how to use coloring pencils in different ways, and how to use a pencil lightly. The water cycle is the cycle of how the rain is made, using the sun, water, and muanga.

virus - mikaira

In Te Maunga we have been learning about viruses. I learnt that a fungi called yeast can help make bread and ginger beer.
